Rhythms and Routines

A strong emphasis is place on daily, weekly, and annual (seasonal) rhythms/routines. This is in order to help children in our care feel secure and confident. The predictability of their experience at Kinderschule supports their development, as they know the framework of the day and what will come next is not a stressor. This is very important, as so many other individual and social challenges meet them throughout their morning with us.

From our daily schedule to our procedures while in transition, children quickly learn what to expect. Our routines also support our other goals: a candle and meal blessing at snack helps set the right communal tone; our hand-washing song welcomes clean hands into the classroom each day; and a fun ending song brings the children together as a group before they are off to meet their parents again. In all these ways, our activity together is a comfort to which children grow accustomed quickly.

We would like to acknowledge that we inhabit the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, as well as the homeland of the Métis Nation.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU VISIT SOON!
